The start of the adventure.


So I decided at the start of 2020 to make a business. I had no idea what the future was about to throw at us, but I was determined to do something that I enjoyed doing. In my life I have gone through many career changes, skipping from one to the next, dreading work every day, and just wondering if it was possible to have a career you enjoy, or if you just accept that hey I have to make money to pay my bills.

But the start of 2020 had to be the year that things changed, and they definitely did change.

At the beginning of the year, I started off taking a lot of pictures of my kids, and then shortly after I offered my services for free to build my portfolio. This is when I realized how much I loved it. On my way to each photo shoot, I was so nervous. I went through posing in my mind and tried to remember all the important things I had read and researched up until this point. When I got there I took a deep breath, and I literally told myself just fake it until you make it. That is what I did, I went in with confidence. I took the photos and then went home and uploaded them onto my computer, and I was pretty proud of myself. Did I make mistakes, hell yes, I made a mistake almost every time I took photos, but I also took some really great photos, and that was a huge confidence boost.

So then I decided this is what I want to do. The feeling you get when you get into your car after you finish a session is amazing, or maybe it's just me being such an empath haha. Regardless I love it, getting to meet people and have them invite you in for a sneak peek of their life is so special to me. Then getting to share that moment back with them is even better!

So I started this because I thought I would enjoy going out and taking photos (which I do!) but I continue doing it more for the connection. For the people I meet, and the places I get to visit, and the feeling I get when I get in my car after an amazing session.

So if you are thinking of maybe getting into photography I say do it.

But don't do it just for the money, do it for the experience.
